The First 270 Days

Pregnancy or the first 270 days is a good beginning of a journey from the womb to birth. It is critical to understand pregnancy related issues and the need to maintain a healthy weight gain during pregnancy.

You reap what you sow - how true is this when you think of nutritional programming during early life and the effects on your babies health in later life, including risk for non-communicable disease (NCD).

Programming and reprogramming if required of both nutrition and healthy lifestyle needs to help advantage the outcome through out pregnancy.

How Can We Make The First 270 Days or Pregnancy Count?

The recommendations for healthy pregnant and breastfeeding women are based on the New Zealand Food and Nutrition Guideline Statements for Healthy Adults are to

1. Maintain a healthy body weight by eating well and by daily physical activity. Always consult your LMC

2. Eat well by including a variety of nutritious foods from each of the four major food groups each day.
